Dr. B.V. Mehta
Executive Director of the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) — the country's authoritative source for edible oil import and oilseed crush data.
About Mehta
Dr B V Mehta is the Executive Director of the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA), the industry body that has represented India's vegetable oil refiners, oilseed crushers and processors for over six decades.
Under his stewardship, SEA has become the definitive source of Indian monthly import data, half-year and full-year edible oil consumption analysis, and the technical voice on India's positions in tariff, GST, MSP and import-policy discussions with the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Agriculture. His monthly data releases set the agenda for global commentary on Indian demand dynamics.
At GLOBOIL India 2026 he will speak on the Policy & Producer plenary and lead the annual SEA Industry Update, framing the import balance, the oilseed crush position and the structural outlook for the 2026–27 oil year — including direct commentary on the May 2026 SEA H1 release showing Indian palm imports nearly doubled year-over-year.
