Dr. B. V. Mehta

Dr. B. V. Mehta is Executive Director of the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) — the apex industry body representing Indian oilseed processors, refiners and edible-oil traders since 1963.

He concurrently serves as Secretary General of the Asian Palm Oil Alliance (APOA), giving him a uniquely panoramic view of vegetable-oil supply, demand, policy and trade across the world's largest consuming region.

Under his stewardship, SEA has become the most-cited source on Indian edible-oil import data, monthly stock positions, port-arrival volumes, and oilmeal export performance. The association's monthly releases routinely move international prices and frame the policy discussion in Delhi.

Dr. Mehta is a year-round partner to the GLOBOIL programme, helping curate the policy, market-intelligence and producer-country sessions that anchor each edition. His on-stage data presentations are a fixed feature of the conference, framing the half-yearly Indian demand picture against the global supply backdrop.

He is widely consulted by government, including the Department of Consumer Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce, on edible-oil duty structure, import policy and food-security positioning.
