Gustavo Idígoras

Gustavo Idígoras is President of CIARA-CEC, the joint chamber of Argentina's oilseed processors (CIARA) and grain exporters (CEC), a role he has held since 2018. Together, its members account for the overwhelming majority of Argentina's soybean crush and grain and oil exports — making CIARA-CEC one of the single most important voices in the global oilseeds trade.

Trained as a political scientist with postgraduate studies in international affairs and agricultural business administration, Gustavo spent roughly 17 years as an Argentine trade negotiator on market-access issues at the WTO, MERCOSUR, FTAs, CODEX, OIE, IPPC, IGC and the OECD, and served for about five years as Argentina's agricultural counsellor in Europe, based in Belgium.

Before joining CIARA-CEC he built a career across public affairs in biotechnology, agribusiness and bioenergy consulting, academic teaching, and directing agrifood programmes. He also chairs the VISEC platform, which coordinates the Argentine soy and beef industry's traceability and free-deforestation strategy for European and other high-standard markets.
